Any person with any type of
Plague needs medical treatment as soon as possible. “Without treatment about
fifty percent of people with Bubonic Plague will die.” (“Plague” A.D.A.M.)
Almost all people with Pneumonic Plague die without treatment. Receiving
medical attention as soon as possible reduces the chance of death by fifty percent.
There are, however, several types of antibiotics that are used to treat this
disease. These antibiotics include: streptomycin, gentamicin, doxycycin, and
iprofioxacin. Oxygen, intravenous fluids, and respiratory support are also
needed for treatment. (“Plague” A.D.A.M.)
